Get a quick start to your Learning Through Listening® program by following these five steps:

1. Check RFB&D Membership

Confirm the level of your membership with your LTL Program Administrator (this is the person who is responsible for setting up the membership, general program organization and equipment purchases).

2. Order RFB&D’s AudioPlus^® or AudioAccess^SM books

Review your curriculum, search the RFB&D book catalog to check availability and order your books.

• Search the RFB&D book catalog to check availability: Enter the title, author, grade level or any other book information contained on the page and click search.
• Order your books.
• AudioPlus books on CD can be shipped directly to you. 
• AudioPlus downloadable books can be downloaded for use in specially adapted playback devices and software.  RFB&D offers a select line of players, software and accessories for nonprofit sale.
• AudioAccess downloadable books can be downloaded for use in Windows Media Player or portable media players that support Windows Media DRM for subscriptions. 
• If you are an RFB&D member, you can order the books through RFB&D's Catalog and Online Ordering Center or by calling Member Services at 1-800-221-4792.

3. If you are using AudioPlus, explore the Playback Device(s)

It is important to familiarize yourself with the specialized playback equipment used to play AudioPlus books.

Desktop Devices:

• Unpack the equipment and charge the battery.
• Use the Audiobook Training Tool (ATT) or Quick Reference Guides in the Equipment Training and Support Materials Section to learn how to operate the equipment.
  • Learn more about the ATT.
  • Each piece of equipment is shipped with a laminated Quick Reference Guide.
  • Copies of the ATT or Quick Reference Guide can be ordered through RFB&D's Online Catalog and Ordering Center.

Software Packages:

• Check the site licensing agreement.
• Install onto your computer.
• The first time you use the software, follow the prompts to register the software with RFB&D. 

Evaluate the equipment you have to see if it is the best option for your students. Go to the Products section of RFB&D's Catalog and Online Ordering Center to see other playback options that are available.

4. If you are using AudioAccess, download your books and explore your portable media device or Windows Media Player:

• Visit http://support.rfbd.org/ for step-by-step information on downloading AudioAccess books.

• RFB&D’s^® AudioAccess downloaded books use Windows Media® Audio and Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies. In order to be compatible with the service, portable media players must be able to play subscription-based protected Windows Media Audio (WMA) files at a bit rate of 32 kbps or higher. Refer to your player's documentation to check its specifications, or visit the player manufacturer's website to ensure that your player meets the minimum requirements necessary to play AudioAccess downloaded books.

5. Use RFB&D in the Classroom
