The student will demonstrate knowledge of the causes, major events and effects of the Civil War by
  1. Describing the cultural, economic and constitutional issues that divided the nation
  2. Describing the effects of war from the perspectives of the Union and Confederate soldiers

Students will:
  • Read Chapter 3 of Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt
  • Compare and contrast the images of what war would be like, as described by characters in the novel, and the reality of war
  • Reflect upon a specific quote from the book regarding war
