M3N4. Students will understand the meaning of division and develop the ability to apply it in problem solving.

National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM – grades 3–5):Understand meanings of operations and how they relate to one another. Understand various meanings of multiplication and division. Understand the effects of multiplying and dividing whole numbers.

  • Understand that division is the result of “fair sharing.”
