Georgia Performance Standards (GPS–5th grade)
M5N1. Students will extend their understanding of area of geometric plane figures: (d) Find the areas of parallelograms using a formula.

Georgia Performance Standards (GPS–6th grade)
M6M2. Students will use appropriate units of measure for finding length, perimeter, area and volume and express each quantity using the appropriate unit.

National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM grades 3–5): Understand such attributes as length, area, weight, volume and size of angle and select the appropriate type of unit for measuring each attribute.

  • Understand the difference between area and perimeter for 2-D figures.
