  • The student will determine the main idea or essential message in grade-level or higher texts through inferring, paraphrasing, summarizing and identifying relevant details.

  • Read/listen to Voice of Freedom: A Story about Frederick Douglass by Maryann N. Weidt. 
  • Review background information about Frederick Douglass.
  • Write a persuasive article similar to the articles written for Douglass’s newspaper, North Star.
