  2. Listening and reading for literary response involves comprehending, interpreting and critiquing imaginative texts in every medium, drawing on personal experiences and knowledge to understand the text, and recognizing the social, historical and cultural features of the text.

Objectives:

Students will:
  • Read or listen to chapters 1-4 in class
  • Paraphrase the main idea for each chapter using a teacher-designed graphic organizer
  • Identify unfamiliar vocabulary presented in each chapter and determine the definition of the word using context clues and a dictionary
  • Identify how pictures add to the meaning of a story
