Standard 2: All students will listen actively in a variety of situations to information from a variety of sources.
Standard 3: All students will write in clear, concise, organized language that varies in content and form for different audiences and purposes.
Standard 4: All students will read various materials and texts with comprehension and critical analysis.

Objectives:

Students will:
  • Read and discuss the novel literally and analytically.
  • Write a letter as if they were one of the main characters in the story (e.g. Jessica to Tom or Tom to Jessica) depicting what his/her life is like now based on information from the story.
  • Respond to a classmate’s letter as another character in the novel (e.g. Jessica or Tom).
  • Discuss the content of the letters as a group to gain insight into the characters in the novel and predict what is happening in their lives.
