Standards & Goals:	New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards 4.3 D. Patterns and Algebra 1. Evaluate and simplify expressions. Multiply a polynomial by a monomial or binomial Evaluate polynomial and rational expressions 2. Select and use appropriate methods to solve equations and inequalities. Quadratic equations – factoring (including trinomials when the coefficient of x2 is 1) Note that standards in this lesson plan are for example only. This lesson can be easily adapted to meet your state's specific standards.
Objectives:	Students will: Students will model and factor trinomials using algebra tiles. Students will factor quadratic trinomials (with a leading coefficient of 1) using the sum-product method.
