Such knowledge and skills enable students to make informed decisions as socially and ethically responsible world citizens in the 21st century.
New Jersey State Core Curriculum Content Standards/Reading/Language Arts:
3.4: All students will listen actively to information from variety of sources in a variety of situations.
3.2.12.A.3
Use strategies such as graphic organizers and outlines to plan and write drafts according to the intended message, audience and purpose for writing.

Objectives:

Students will:

  • Read and/or listen to the book Who in the World Was the Acrobatic Empress?: The Story of Theodora by Robin Phillips.
  • Complete at least three activities on a choice board in response to the book that investigate the rule of Theodora and some cultural aspects of the Byzantine Empire.
